Susie Dowding

Susie Dowding started cataloguing drawings for Drawing Matter in its earliest days at Shatwell in the Autumn of 2014, when there were more cows and tractors in the farmyard than architects or historians, and the furniture and library shipping containers moved on a regular basis. She was Collections Manager and Registrar until the Collection moved to London in the Autumn of 2024. 

Susie read History of Art at UCL and worked for ten years with Prints and Drawings in London before a change of direction to the field of organic horticulture and agriculture. 

She remains in Somerset to accession new acquisitions for Drawing Matter and works freelance archiving and cataloguing collections and artists’ studios, while maintaining an interest in organic agriculture.
