The deadline for tutor applications has now passed.

We are now accepting tutor applications for our annual Architecture Summer School. The school, which was set up by the Drawing Matter Trust in 2017, offers free places for students from all backgrounds to get a taste of architecture, both as an academic subject and as a future career.

Applications are invited from professionals with architectural training or a background in an adjacent field who have not yet had the opportunity to teach in a formal context.

Tutoring on the Summer School is a unique opportunity to develop your views on teaching in conversation with others, while engaging with curious students and sharing your lived experience and expertise to inspire them.

During the five-day course, you will guide students in undertaking many activities, including individual and collective drawing exercises, group discussions, practical experimentation, and other forms of collaborative learning. The Summer School also includes a workshop exploring Drawing Matter’s collection of many-thousand architectural drawings; and a visit to the archive of the Zaha Hadid Foundation.

This year the school has a new venue and format, taking place across five days at Drawing Room in Bermondsey, SE1. The location is situated in a complex urban context, which we hope will spark questions about the role of the architect in society today.

The Summer School tuition is led by Andrew Clancy, Professor of Architecture at Kingston University.
