Shatwell Farm Open Day – 17 June 2023
On Saturday 17 June 2023, Shatwell Farm held its annual Open Day, inviting visitors to the farm for a programme of live performance, art exhibitions and local food, curated by Kendra Matchett.
During the day, the Drawing Matter archive was open with a pin-up of drawings for private houses, selected by the Drawing Matter team in response to Fraser Stables’ exhibition in the Haybarn.
2023 Open Day Programme:
Live participatory performance titled ‘WARNING: Test for Air’ by Leonora Oppenheim and installation of related photographic work in the upper Atcost barn. A limited Shatwell Edition print from her Before They Awake series, featuring the Cowshed by Stephen Taylor Architects, was also produced for the event. More details.
In the grain silo: a response to Leonora Oppenheim’s exhibition by Jackie Brooks and ‘Grace Notes’, a wall painting playing with the architecture by Tarka Kings, accompanied by a site-specific sound installation by Pike Ogilvy.
‘Remembering Architecture’, an exhibition of photography by Fraser Stables. Read a text by artist Fraser Stables on his series ‘Remembering Architecture’ and a reflection on his exhibition at Shatwell by Matt Page.
The opening of the Comins x Shatwell Tea House, a newly built intervention in the Atcost barn.
Food, drink and refreshments by Comins Tea, Hakko House, The Tiffin Club, Brickell’s ice cream, More Wine, Southdown Cider, and Gimlet Bar.
All proceeds from the Open Day went towards funding students places on the Architectural Summer School.
