At Shatwell – Dido & Aeneas

On Saturday 29 September 2018, Henry Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas was performed at Shatwell Farm. The Cowshed, designed by Stephen Taylor, was transformed for an evening that fused architecture, drawing, music and food.

The opera was conducted by Matthew Owens (former director of music at Wells Cathedral) and featured staging by architect Sam Jacob and scenography by Matthew Day Jackson (artist in residence at Hauser & Wirth Somerset). The performance was presented in conjunction with Drawing Matter, Hauser & Wirth Somerset and The Architecture Foundation.
