Brian Carter

Brian Carter, a graduate of Nottingham School of Architecture and the University of Toronto, is a registered architect in the United Kingdom. He worked in practice in London with Arup Associates prior to serving as the Chair of Architecture at the University of Michigan. Subsequently Brian Carter was appointed Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo.

A designer of award winning buildings in Europe and North America he has curated exhibitions on the work of Peter Rice, Eero Saarinen, Charles & Ray Eames, Albert Kahn and Aires Mateus and is the author of numerous books. Brian Carter’s writings on architecture and design have also been widely published in international journals including Detail, The Architectural Review, AD and Architectural Record. Currently he is Professor of Architecture at the University at Buffalo.
