Architecture Summer School 2026 – Tutor Applications

24 – 28 August 2026
Tutor applications are now open for the 2026 Drawing Matter Summer School. To apply, please click here.
We are looking for individuals interested in architectural education who want to gain experience working with students. We prioritise enthusiasm and do not accept applications from candidates who have formal professional teaching experience.
Founded in 2017, the free Drawing Matter Summer School, now in collaboration with the Zaha Hadid Foundation, aims to provide students (16+) from all backgrounds with a taste of architecture, both as an academic subject and as a future career. Explore previous Summer Schools here.
Over the course of four days (25 – 28 August), six tutors will work collectively with a group of 30 students in an open programme of drawing exercises, group discussions, practical experimentation, and other forms of collaborative learning. They will be guided by a group of experienced architectural educators but given freedom in their choice of exercises and encouraged to experiment with different pedagogical methods.
The day before the students arrive (24 August), we will also hold a dedicated workshop for tutors, focused on approaches to teaching architecture.
Our ideal candidates are strong communicators who can both lead and work as part of a team. They are curious, responsive, and able to think on their feet. Most importantly, they enjoy engaging with young people in a nurturing, encouraging, and positive manner.
Tutoring on the Summer School is a unique opportunity to develop your views on teaching in conversation with others. Almost all of our past tutors have used the experience to secure teaching opportunities at Architecture Schools across the world.
