Architecture Summer School 2025 – Tutor Applications

The following information is for Summer School tutor applicants. We are also accepting applications for students; for more information, click here.
We are now accepting tutor applications for our annual Architecture Summer School. The school, which was set up by the Drawing Matter Trust in 2017, offers free places for students from all backgrounds to get a taste of architecture, both as an academic subject and as a future career. Explore previous Summer Schools here.
This year, the school will be based at the Zaha Hadid Foundation in Clerkenwell, London. There will also be workshops held at the Drawing Matter archive space in Covent Garden and Hauser & Wirth’s space on Saville Row.
During the four-day course, you will guide students in many activities, including individual and collective drawing exercises, group discussions, practical experimentation, and other forms of collaborative learning.
We will also hold a dedicated workshop for tutors, focused on approaches to teaching architecture. This will take place on the day before the summer school students arrive (26/08) and will be led by Andrew Clancy, Professor of Architecture at Kingston University. He will be joined by Ben Machin, Lecturer at Loughborough University; Sakiko Kohashi, Lecturer at Central Saint Martins; and Wilson Yau, Learning Officer at the Zaha Hadid Foundation.
Applications are invited from professionals with architectural training or a background in an adjacent field who have not yet had the opportunity to teach in a formal context.
Tutoring on the Summer School is a unique opportunity to develop your views on teaching in conversation with others, while engaging with curious students and sharing your lived experience and expertise to inspire them.
Almost all of our past tutors have used the experience to secure teaching opportunities at Architecture Schools across the world.
