DMJournal: Submission process

Proposals for papers should be initially submitted as a c.500-word abstract, together with a two-page CV and brief statement of the author’s interest in pursuing the subject. The materials should be sent by email to the editors at journal@drawingmatter.org with ‘DMJ abstract_Storytelling’ as the subject line.

Based on the review of proposals, invitations will then be extended to submit full papers of between 5,500 and 8,000 words, including footnotes.  Authors should submit two versions of the text file, one being anonymised for peer review. Final acceptance for publication in DMJournal is subject to the outcome of the peer review process. Papers will be published on the Drawing Matter website as they pass through the editorial and design process, and in the printed themed issue of DMJournal on storytelling, which is scheduled to appear in summer 2024.

Deadline for receipt of abstract, CV and statement of interest:
Monday, 7 August 2023

Final date for submission of selected full papers:
Monday, 8 January 2024

Authors are responsible for clearing copyright for images used in accepted articles. Images submitted as part of the peer review process are not required to be copyright cleared in advance. No charge will be made for the use of materials drawn from the Drawing Matter Collection.

Authors should format their submissions according to the DMJournal style sheet. DMJournal uses UK English and endnotes instead of footnotes.
