BOLLES+WILSON: Drawing Towards Building (Exhibition + Talk)
– Editors
On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July, Drawing Matter presented an exhibition of drawings by BOLLES+WILSON (founded in London in 1980; based in Münster since 1988). The exhibition was the fourth in a series presenting the work of architects and practices that are represented in the Drawing Matter Collection by significant portfolios of drawings—following exhibitions on Studio Ponis, Tony Fretton, and Álvaro Siza.
Following a roughly chronological narrative, the exhibition was bookended by drawings made by Peter Wilson in the mid-1970s while teaching at the Architectural Association and drawings for the Bazaar Gate, a twenty-eight-storey tower currently under construction in Tirana, Albania.
The exhibition opened with a conversation between Julia Bolles, Peter Wilson, Mark Dorrian and, Niall Hobhouse. During the weekend, Peter Wilson and Silvana Taher led informal walk-arounds of the exhibition, responding to the drawings on show.
