Take One: Architects on Drawing

By Editors

Robert Lorimer (1865–1929), sketch for a draughting table, c.1897. Pencil and blue crayon on black-edged writing paper, 125 × 205 mm. DMC 3277.3r.

Take One is a collaboration between Drawing Matter and the Architects’ Lives oral history project run by National Life Stories. Each episode pairs a drawing or visual element with a short audio extract, showing the image alongside the voice of its creator or an informed commentator. The audio extracts are taken from life story recordings created by National Life Stories at the British Library alongside sister projects with a range of people.

The following short audio clips bring together four voices – Denys Lasdun, Richard Wentworth, Graham Morrison and Michael Wilford – on making drawings.
